Q1: What are the show grounds like?
A1: Here's some bits of information:
- WestWorld Equestrian Center showgrounds is a 19 acre polo field (without divots!) - grass surface for the tents and rings. We'll have two golf carts to meet you at the unloading area and take you to the Westie Tent!
- The Westie Tent is huge and right outside our rings (#s 14 & 15 all days)
- Premium Grooming Area Reservation: Valley of the Sun club is offering a limited number of "PREMIUM" grooming spaces in blocks of approximately 8' x 8' steps away from ringside! Electricity is provided. Premium space is offered at $50. for entire weekend. Closing date for reservations is February 17, 2010. CLICK HERE for reservation form.
- There will also be additional free grooming space within the Westie Tent available on a first come basis.
- Under our tent we will serve continental breakfast all mornings and our Specialty lunches Friday and Sunday. (See "Roving Meal Forms" page for your meal reservations).
Q2: How about driving distances? Airport to hotel? Hotel to show grounds? Do I need a car?
A2: Scottsdale/Phoenix area covers a large area ("Valley of the Sun"!) and we recommend renting a car or sharing a vehicle for your visit depending on how many days you are here.
IF, FOR ANY REASON, YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ARRANGE YOUR OWN TRANSPORTION - PLEASE CONTACT SUE NENNEMANN, SHOW CHAIR, AND WE WILL ASSIST YOUR TRANSPORT FROM HOTEL TO SHOW GROUNDS. There will be any number of us driving each morning to the show grounds and may arrange to car pool!
Taxi service from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport runs between $35/45 one way. The hotel does not provide free airport limo service.
There are a variety of local restaurants within a short walking distance from the hotel and the FREE Scottsdale Trolley (operating every 15 minutes) can take you to Old Town Scottsdale (galleries, shopping, restaurants), several shopping malls, and other key area locations.
